PROGRAM NOTE
This lively march was written for The Salvation Army’s National Music Camp in Bolivia. It features the tune This Is What the Lord Has Done (T.B. 891).
ABOUT THE COMPOSER
Dr. Jonathan Rowsell grew up in St. John’s, Newfoundland, where he studied both tuba performance and composition at Memorial University of Newfoundland. In 2018, he graduated from the University of Toronto with a Doctor of Musical Arts in tuba performance. Jonathan is a proud Eastman Performing Artist and is tubist with the Stratford Festival. Additionally, he performs throughout Ontario with various groups including Trillium Brass Quintet, Hannaford Street Silver Band, London Symphonia, Hamilton Philharmonic, Kitchener Waterloo Symphony, Esprit Orchestra, the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, and the National Ballet of Canada Orchestra. Jonathan is also in demand as a clinician and teacher. He is the Musician-in-Residence for brass at Laurier University’s Faculty of Music. In addition, he is an enthusiastic composer and arranger. Many of his works have been performed and recorded in Canada and abroad. Jonathan’s music has been published by SP&S, Experianza Music, Cimarron Music Press, and BrookWright Music. He has several other contributions in the Maple Leaf Brass journal.
