    PROGRAM NOTE

    This prelude is based on the Welsh hymn tune Cwm Rhondda (T.B. 399) which we associate with the words Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah (S.A.S.B. 27).

    Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,
    Pilgrim through this barren land;
    I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
    Hold me with Thy powerful hand.
    Bread of Heaven,
    Feed me now and evermore.

    PERFORMANCE NOTE

    The music commences with a fanfare theme for the 1st Cornets which is enhanced at bar 5 by a counter theme. This theme, which is used as a unifying element, will also occur at Section C and F. This piece has frequent changes in tone colour, unison cornets, unison trombones, brass choir, mellow brass, and full band. Careful rehearsal will ensure that each section of the band is secure at their point of entry. While keeping control of the dynamics, the band should strive for a strong and majestic performance, which is characteristic of this style of music.
