    PROGRAM NOTE

This march was written to recognize the formation of The Salvation Army Halifax West Community Church. It features the melodies Praise, My Soul (T.B. 406) and To God Be the Glory (T.B. 513). These tunes help remind the listener that as believers, our primary focus is upward. We rejoice that God’s provision through Jesus Christ meets man’s deepest need. This is the message that Halifax West Community Church wants to share as a newly formed corps.

    ABOUT THE COMPOSER

A native of the Netherlands, Peter immigrated to Canada in 1954 with his family. He enrolled in the Canadian Forces in his late teens, hoping to pursue a career in military banding. In 1987, Peter was commissioned from the ranks and took command of the Canadian Forces Vimy Band in Kingston, Ontario. In 1993, he was transferred to Halifax as the Director of Music for the Stadacona Band of Maritime Forces Atlantic. He held this position until 2001 when he retired. Peter does a significant amount of writing for the Sackville Concert Band, of which he is a valued member. He enjoys the dual role of writing and continuing to play the trombone. A lifelong Salvationist, Peter is presently giving leadership to the band at the newly formed Salvation Army Halifax West Community Church.
