PROGRAM NOTE
This arrangement features the tune Trentham (T.B. 159) to which we associate the words of the song Breathe on Me, Breath of God (S.A.S.B. 294). The tune is presented in a more
contemporary and relaxed style. It is hoped that this arrangement will draw both players and listeners alike into the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Breathe on me, breath of God,
Fill me with life anew,
That I may love what Thou dost love
And do what Thou wouldst do.
ABOUT THE COMPOSER
Originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland, Craig Woodland received much of his early musical training in the Salvation Army as a soldier at St. John’s Citadel. After completing bachelor’s
degree programs in music performance and music education at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Craig moved to London, Ontario, to complete a master’s degree in music
performance at the University of Western Ontario. He currently teaches instrumental and vocal music in the London public school system, and frequently plays trumpet with orchestras and
other professional ensembles in Southern Ontario. Craig attends London Citadel where he currently serves as songster leader and deputy bandmaster. He has also served as director for
various young people’s music groups and was a former bandmaster of the Ontario West Divisional Youth Band.
