PROGRAM NOTE
O Lord, You’re Beautiful is a popular Christian song that was written in 1980 by Keith Green. The reference to Burning, Burning (T.B. 318) and the final motif at the end of the piece that references the tune Tucker (T.B. 295) were inspired by the lyrics of the second verse. This arrangement is straightforward and should be useful for bands looking to program songs from this era that produced so many classic worship songs.
ABOUT THE COMPOSER
David Catherwood is currently the bandmaster at Belfast Temple in the UK & Republic of Ireland Territory. Professionally, he was the Director of Music at Campbell College in Belfast for over 20 years before being appointed as their first ever Composer in Residence in 2017. David is no stranger to Canada as he, along with his wife Wilma and daughter Tess, have been special guests at many Canadian music camps over the years including Roblin Lake, Selkirk,
Newport, Beaver Creek, and Pine Lake. Many of David’s compositions are published in the UK and American band journals. His choral compositions can be found in both Sing to the Lord and the Musical Salvationist journals. He has produced a graded series for bands/orchestras/ensembles entitled From the Beginning which contains several easy and effective arrangements. Many of his newest compositions and arrangements for choirs, bands, and small ensembles are published under Opus 3 Music, his own publishing house, and available on Sheet Music Plus.
