MAPLE LEAF BRASS #21 - TROMBONE SOLO - NEW HORIZONS

$22.99

Robert Redhead

Originally written for Gordon Hill to play with the International Staff Band in 1973, this work became known to Canadian Salvationists through its subsequent use by Robert Merritt and the Canadian Staff Band. The music is based on the composer’s own song Become Aware of Him, written in conjunction with commissioner Harry Read as part of a cadets’ commissioning pageant and later published in The Musical Salvationist. Based on the recurring motif “Become Aware,” this is a demanding and yet very rhythmic solo. The first and last movements express the joy and abandonment of living when the Christian is conscious of Christ’s presence. The second movement reflectively looks at the words, “Become aware of him, for he is ever near.”

Level of difficulty: extremely difficult
